Sexy Gay Sex in the University Archives

Sexy Gay Sex in the University Archives In-Person / Online

In 1980, the police vice squad stormed the university campus and seized over 200 copies of Salient magazine as it featured a cartoon depicting gay sex. Whilst it's not all sexy gay sex, the university has a rich and diverse queer history worth celebrating. This talk will explore a few of those stories using the university's heritage and archive collections.

About the speaker: Emma Cullen (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha, she/they) is the Heritage and Archives Collections Adviser in Te Pātaka Kōrero - The Library at Te Herenga Waka.
